The Neil Cronin Scholarship
Now Accepting Applications!

This year, The Peterson School marks 80 years of teaching the Trades. We are committed to promoting these careers and supporting the professionals who hold them. Our wonderful instructors are committed to this mission, as well. This year, we are proud to be offering a Memorial Scholarship in the name of our former, esteemed Peterson School instructor Neil Cronin.
Mr. Cronin served as an Electrical Instructor with us for over 20 years. He lent his instruction and mentorship to hundreds of Peterson School students as they worked toward their electrical licenses. He stayed in touch with many of those students even after his retirement. Mr. Cronin’s engaging personality and sense of humor helped to keep our classrooms full.
In addition to his work as a teacher, Mr. Cronin’s career included working for the Facilities and Electrical Departments at Boston College for almost 45 years. He was also an Inspector for the towns of Needham and Dedham. Mr. Cronin was a veteran of the US Air Force and served five years of active duty.
Neil was the proud father of six children, all of whom graduated from Boston College. After putting his children through college, he returned to the classroom himself and completed a degree from Boston College, as well.
Mr. Cronin understood and appreciated all that a career in the Trades has to offer; from the stability to the ability to balance both work and life. He always placed great importance on family, giving back to his community and working hard to achieve any goal. These traits were among the hallmarks of his contributions to our school and in his daily life. Award applicants should possess these qualities and look to these attributes when applying.
This scholarship will be awarded to two Peterson School students who are registered for a class in the 2025 Fall semester. Each $500 scholarship will be applied toward the tuition of a class and has no cash value.
