The Field Supervisor serves as the designated Responsible License Holder (RLH) to ensure all installations meet strict state and local code requirements. Train and supervise apprentices and journeymen, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Mentor upcoming technicians entering the apprenticeship program.
Key Duties
- Assist to plan, layout, and oversee the installation of piping systems, coordinating with engineers and other trades.
- Troubleshooting and repairing complex plumbing/piping issues, including high-pressure steam systems, water heaters and boilers.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings to fabricate, cut, thread, and weld pipes.
- Inspect, test, and repair high-pressure piping systems for leaks, proper flow, and structural integrity.
- Sequences pipe installation to reduce inference with other project activities and the customer.
- Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company safety program.
- Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensuring all work meets local, state and federal codes: managing inspections and testing.
- Maintains professional relationship with customer.
Qualification Requirements
- Education and Experience.
- This position is not an entry-level role, as it requires demonstrable previous piping and leadership experience. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, with higher education preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 year’s field experience required. Valid Master Pipefitter license and valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with customers, management, fellow employees, and owner.
- Proficiency in welding (TIG, MIG, Stick), pipe bending, and handling materials like steel, copper, and plastic.
- Deep understanding of ASME, ASTM, and local mechanical/plumbing codes.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and perform math for pipe calculations.

- Demanding, fast-paced environments, including industrial plants, power plants, and construction sites.
- Working in confined spaces and climbing ladders
- Stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
- Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
- Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned.
- Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, tools, pipe/fittings, and other construction materials.
- Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions.
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
- Must be able to climb on and off mobile lifts.
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
