Power Plant Manager

Summary
Per Sé Group is hiring an Interim Plant Manager to oversee operations at our client’s power plant in Dartmouth, MA. The Power Plant Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the facility to ensure efficient and safe electricity generation. The Plant Manager is responsible for managing personnel, budgets, and regulatory requirements, while also optimizing plant performance and implementing safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate diverse union and non-union staff
- Manage safety, health and regulatory compliance to the top performance in the industry
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of the power plant, including power generation, turbine operation, equipment maintenance, and maintenance of the 80-acre Canal generating station site
- Ensure the plant adheres to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Hire, train, and evaluate staff; resolve personnel issues; and ensure a positive work environment.
- Prepare and manage the plant budget, including operations and maintenance costs, administrative and general costs, and capital expenditures.
- Implement strategies to improve plant efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize output.
- Oversee maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance, capital plans, and repair activities to ensure equipment reliability.
- Develop and implement emergency plans and respond to incidents or breakdowns.
- Possess understanding of merchant, wholesale electricity markets and power generation revenue sources
- Perform all functions within applicable state, federal and local laws and ISO-New England, FERC, and NERC rules and procedures
- Assist the development team as needed with potential expansion and repowering initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on plant operations and performance
- Coordinate with other departments within JERA, manage vendors, and regulatory agencies
- Serve as liaison with regional leaders, town officials and local community when needed representing the company and plant with professionalism and respect for others
Required Experience and Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of previous experience as a Power Plant Manager or Operations Manager for a powerplant of 100 megawatts or more.
- Massachusetts First Class Engineering License is required.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive knowledge of power plant operations, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage resources, and make sound decisions.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems related to plant operations and safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Understanding of relevant environmental, safety, and power plant regulations.
- Ability to prepare and manage budgets and track financial performance.
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to implement and enforce safety procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree in business or a technical field.
- 10 + years of experience in a leadership position in a power plant.
The pay range for this role is $75-$85/hour. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type).
