Responsibilities: The HVACR technician will perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks on HVACR and supporting systems to increase its longevity and useful life to the college. The HVACR technician will perform regularly scheduled inspections of equipment to ensure system effectiveness and safety parameters are followed.
The essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain a high quality of customer service at all times.
Install new heating, cooling and ventilation systems as designed.
Investigate problems and perform repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment in heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
Conduct performance tests with specialized tools.
Meet key productivity metrics and goals set by the Facilities Department Management team.
Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and HVACR resources.
Assist in setting up PM schedules and data cards.
Complete summary schedules of all work performed from the work order system.
Ability to maintain, monitor and update progress on PM work orders on a daily basis through the Facilities Department work order system.
Examples of PM work orders – oil/grease machinery, change filter media, adjust/renew belts, clean traps and strainers, checking pressure & temperatures on different systems, inspection & cleanliness of the mechanical rooms, pumps, heat exchangers, air compressors, fans, motors and associated equipment.
The HVACR technician will also assist in day to day operations including service calls, including Sundays when on campus. This will be communicated by the Maintenance Services Manager or the On Call Manager.
Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Three (3) to Five (5) years required as a licensed HVACR technician. Three (3) to Five (5) years maintenance experience working on large HVACR equipment. Previous on the job training preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must observe safety rules & regulations to include OSHA standards (ie. confined space, Lockout/Tagout) and proper handling of equipment.
Prior experience working in a Work Order Management system, in particular with a Preventative Maintenance module preferred.
Must have computer skills in Microsoft applications.
Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex HVACR issues with customers.
