YouthBuild Construction Supervisor

We are seeking a YouthBuild Construction Supervisor to work in collaboration with the Program Director to perform marketing and outreach of the YouthBuild Program within the community; to provide education, occupational training, and placement services for YouthBuild students; and to provide guidance and encouragement to students in the development of leadership skills to enable students to develop a plan for self-sufficiency. Responsibilities include: Promote community development and relationship building for CTI’s YouthBuild program to include program marketing and outreach, and establishing and maintaining relationship partnership businesses; Work with community partners to develop internship opportunities for students; Prepare reports in a timely manner; Develop and implement training and construction curriculum; Teach students construction and general carpentry skills necessary to do such projects as gut rehabilitation, renovation, and/or initial housing construction, as well as demolition, rough framing, roofing, and drywall; Develop detailed construction plans and schedules; Develop and maintaining positive relationships with unions, contractors, and/or other public/private sector individuals directly or indirectly connected with the construction field or those having interests in the YB program; Identify private contractors or developers who might be interested in collaborative partnerships with the YouthBuild Program; Manage the bidding process and coordinate subcontractors; Assist with fire and building inspections; Maintain with student assistance program worksite including shop cleanliness and overall appearance of all program work spaces; Assist with proper documentation of AmeriCorps hours for participants.
¨ High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
¨ 5 years previous experience in the construction trades industry required.
¨ 3 years supervisory experience required.
¨ 1 year previous teaching experience preferred.
¨ Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
¨ Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.
¨ Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
¨ Good attention to details.
¨ Ability to maintain confidentiality.
¨ Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
¨ Ability to work with hand and/or machine tools.
¨ Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Khmer) are a plus.
¨ Mass Construction Supervisors license required.
¨ Lead Renovator Certification Initial required; must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
¨ OSHA 10 certification required.
¨ Valid Driver’s License required.
