The Town of Cohasset, an active, waterfront community on the South Shore, is seeking a Facilities Technician in the Public Works Department. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of all Town owned buildings, related equipment, and interior/exterior property. The scope of work includes: Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Painting, Systems Operations, and Improvement Projects as well as snow removal at Town Facilities. In addition, work includes the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and vehicles as well numerous other tasks required. Some Heavy Lifting is required up to 50 lbs.

The ideal candidate will possess at a minimum a High School Diploma, two years of advanced technical/vocational training and two years of experience in one or more of the building trades. A successful candidate will take pride in their work and be eager to expand his or her knowledge and skills to maintain the Town’s assets as we implement newer technologies. Good judgement is key, and could lead to long term career growth potential. Maintaining a pleasant demeanor in speaking with coworkers and the public is important. Additionally, a successful candidate must possess high ethical standards, respect the position of public office, and honor confidentiality when necessary.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is 40-hours per week. Essential and emergency overtime opportunities exist. Starting salary is $22.83 per hour.
