Objective: This course is designed to prepare the student to fulfill the requirements to take the Massachusetts State Plumbing Examination for Plumbing II and Tier II apprentices.
Description: Our course covers over 40 areas of trade related plumbing systems and our program is constantly being updated to meet today’s needs. In order to apply for the course you MUST hold a Massachusetts Apprentice certificate. Massachusetts State requirements vary for Plumbing II and Tier II apprentices based on the date you received your Apprentice Card.Outline:

- Review Basic/Intermediate Plumbing, Gas Fitting and Fuel Gas Codes
- Permitting, Licensing Rules and Regulations
- Advanced Testing of Plumbing and Gas Systems
- Advanced Design/Installation of Basic to Complex Piping Configurations
- Fixtures, Trims, Special Waste Systems
- Roughing In of Piping and Gas Systems
- Advanced Methods of Installation and Venting Gas Appliances
- Protection of the Potable Water Supply through Cross Connection Control
- Approved Materials for use in Residential, Commercial and Industrial Installations
- Advanced Science/Theory of Plumbing and Gas Fitting
- Water/Air and its Properties
- Sanitary and Environmental Health Hazards
- Pressure, Vacuum, Weights, Sewage and Waste Disposal
- Types and Properties of Gas, Traps, Seals, Vents
- Ferrous/Non-Ferrous Metals, Melting Points of Various Metals
- Basic Arithmetic, Geometry, Square Roots
- Pipe Equations, Areas, Volumes, Pressures, Friction and Capacities
- Temperature Conversions, Thermal Expansion and BTU Calculations
- Weights, Loads, Distances, Percentages and Grades
- Sizing of DWV, Water Supply, Gas Systems
- Takeoffs, Estimating, Calculations of Direct and Indirect Job Cost
- Blueprint Reading and Design, Grades and use of Instruments
- Interfacing of Code Standard with Drawings
