Objective: This classroom course will allow a licensed Engineer or Fireman to fulfill the 30 hour requirement for renewal of their license as required in Chapter 146.
The Program: Effective January 1, 2002 All firemen and engineers are required to obtain 30 Hours of Continuing Education . All firemen and engineers licenses are on a five (5) year renewal cycle.Classes are held on a monthly basis. Call Woburn (781)938-5656 or Westwood (781)320-3292 for starting dates and times.
Description: The Peterson School offers monthly 30 hour Continuing Education Classes for all licensed Engineers and Firemen. This program has been approved by the Department of Public Safety and meets the requirements of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 146.
The topics covered during the program include :
| 1 | Saturday | Chapter 146, DEP Regulations, Power Industry Deregulation and Boiler Auxiliaries. |
| 2 | Sunday | CMR Review, Water Treatment |
| 3 | Saturday | Combustion Turbines, HRSG's, and Steam Turbine Design and Operation. |
| 4 | Sunday | Power Plant Tour |
This course is designed to offer students maximum flexibility. The 30 hour curriculum is completed over a 4 day period usually over two consecutive weekends. Students can attend the four classes in a single monthly session or over a period of time as their schedules allow. This course includes a tour of a combined cycle electric generating power plant. The tour allows the student the opportunity to see and experience the application of the material covered during the first three classes.
