Annually, Covanta's modern Energy-from-Waste facilities safely and securely convert approximately 20 million tons of waste into 9 million megawatt hours of clean renewable electricity and almost 9 billion pounds of steam that are sold to a variety of industries. Covanta's facilities also recover 400,000 tons of metal per year for recycling.
This individual will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Facility during an assigned shift including the monitoring of the boilers, turbine and steam plant, and ensuring safe and efficient operation, while operating within all environmental limits and permits. To accomplish this, the Shift Supervisor is required to make routine tours of the plant and oversee the work of the operators on their shift. In the event of emergencies or unusual operations, the Shift Supervisor will, if necessary, direct or personally perform the required operations as well as coordinating the activities of all personnel involved. The individual must also approve all requests for removing equipment from service for maintenance, or other purposes, and ensure that the equipment is properly cleared and tagged in accordance with plant procedures. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the technical training of all personnel on his assigned shift.
Qualified candidates must have 5-7 years power plant operations experience. Detailed knowledge of Power Plant equipment, operating procedures and standards to properly maintain and enforce cost effective, safe and efficient Facility Operations. Good communications skills, strong leadership skills, and problem solving/decision making skills are a must. Must obtain & maintain an ASME QRO Provisional license and the ability to obtain a Site specific Operators license. Must possess a Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s License.
