Due to a recent wave of both retirements and promotions, we are currently recruiting to fill a full time Control Room Operator, Assistant Control Room Operator, and Auxiliary Operator position.  These positions are on a rotating 12 hour shift schedule (7a-7p & 7p-7a). Built in OT, Shift Differential, Holiday/Sunday Premiums.  Competitive hourly rate, excellent benefits package, up to 9% company retirement contribution!

Control Room Operator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is accountable for the safe and efficient control and operation of boilers, gas and steam turbines and all associated equipment during an assigned shift, from the Control Room or from local-control stations adjacent to the equipment. Incumbent reports to the Shift Supervisor(s), and normally provides operational guidance to the ACRO and AO.

  • In addition, incumbent will be required to exercise independent judgment when addressing operational issues as applicable.

     

  • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

     

    • Requires a Massachusetts 2nd or 1st Class Engineers license.

       

    • Must be capable of being certified through NGA for various phases of pipeline operations and maintenance.

       

    • This position is responsible for DOT related gas pipeline duties and is subject to a DOT compliant drug testing program.

     

    Assistant Control Room Operator

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • This position is accountable for supporting the Control Room Operator in the safe and efficient controland operation of boilers, gas and steam turbines and all associated equipment during an assigned shift, from the control room or from local control stations adjacent to the equipment.

       

      • This position reports to the Shift Supervisor but comes under the functional direction of the Control Room Operator in the performance of specific tasks, as required.  The incumbent works in coordinated activity with the Control Room Operator and/or the Auxiliary Operator to operate generating units and all other appurtenances as required for the efficient and safe operation of the generating station.< >he incumbent may also operate other systems/equipment such as regenerate demineralizers as needed and all other duties as assigned or directed.  The incumbent takes over the duties of the Control Room Operator as necessary.

        This position requires a Massachusetts Third Class Engineer’s license however, a Second Class Engineer’s license is preferred.

      • This position is responsible for DOT related gas pipeline duties and is subject to a DOT compliant drug testing program.This position is accountable for the safe, efficient operation of all auxiliary equipment and boilers associated with the Stony Brook Power Plant. 
      • He/she must be able to quickly recognize abnormal operating conditions of the equipment, patrol and inspect conditions of operating equipment and check automatic starting of standby equipment. 
      • He/she must be able to take corrective action to prevent damage to company property or injury to him/her or others. 
      • This position requires a broad, thorough knowledge of the operation of steam boilers, pumps, heat exchanging equipment, associated cooling systems and related auxiliaries. 
      • This position is under the immediate supervision of the Shift Supervisor and typically receives operational instructions from either the Control Room Operator or Assistant Control Room Operator in addition to the Shift Supervisor.

       

      TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

      • This position requires a Massachusetts Second Class Fireman's license however, a First Class Fireman’s license is preferred.
      • Experience in a generating station preferred.
      • This position is responsible for DOT related gas pipeline duties and is subject to a DOT compliant drug testing program.
