To perform the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection and monitoring of the HVAC, Refrigeration, and Plumbing systems on The Governor’s Academy’s campus.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Troubleshoots, maintains, inspects, modifies and repairs heating and ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment including DX and hydronics systems and components, screw, reciprocating and absorption chillers, cooling towers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric controls and associated equipment.
Implement and monitor existing and new Energy Management System (EMS) and HVAC control systems to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort and safety.
Evaluates preliminary mechanical design plans and specs for remodels or new construction.
Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to budget and applicable codes.
Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.
Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
May train and direct the work of other staff in the area of HVAC & Plumbing.
Assists and serves as backup to other Facilities employees in other trades.
Other duties as needed: some tasks may include, general carpentry, snow removal, salting, sanding and landscaping and event preparation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required for Position:
Must have the desire to work as part of a team
Computer proficient along with the ability to learn and use the Academy’s work order and preventative maintenance management system, Schooldude.
Able to read plans, written work requests, understand verbal instructions, and perform multiple tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Have ability to drive all trucks and operate all equipment used in maintenance operation. Must have a valid driver’s license and DOT medical card.
OSHA 10 certified
Should additionally have peripheral knowledge of most construction and building trades.
Must be committed to working in a diverse community and have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Must be able to work independently on various projects as assigned.
Ensure safety precautions are properly implemented during construction.
Three to five years of experience working in a similar HVAC & Plumbing position. Monday – Friday, typically 07:00am to 3:30pm. Overtime, weekends and nights may be required.
