Job Title:           Facilities Mechanic

Department:       Facilities

Reports To:        Director, Production & Technical Services

Summary:           

Perform periodic maintenance, repairs, recovery and troubleshooting of various facility equipment.  Assists with complex repairs.  Able to troubleshoot and identify root causes and create effective countermeasures for facility efficiency.  Work involves carpentry, plumbing, electrical, machine and equipment repair.  Communicate and support outside contractors as needed.

Essential Functions:

Perform detailed inspections, including documentation, of Utility Equipment and the Facility to ensure maximum reliability and minimize equipment interruptions. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor immediately.
Troubleshoot operating problems with plant equipment or systems, diagnose, identify root causes and adjust, repair, replace defective parts and/or install new units or parts to resolve problem and to avoid or minimize shutdowns.
Install, maintain and repair plant equipment and systems through the support of outside contractors.
Prepare detailed reports and present to stakeholders for equipment interruptions.
Research, order, and maintain tools, equipment and parts inventory for services and repairs.
Perform general buildings and grounds duties, snow removal, etc.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools, hand trucks, pallet jack, fork lift, snow blowers and other related equipment.
Support the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 programs through compliance with processes and documentation.
Maintain work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.  Maintain 5S program.
Availability required on a 24/7 basis to address any building emergencies.
Understand, maintain and perform work according to quality, health, safety and environmental standards
Perform other duties as assigned

Work and/or Physical Skills:

Light physical demand frequently lifting or moving material of moderate weight.
Skilled with a variety of tools
Knowledge of 5S in facility and utility areas
Basic computer skills for recordkeeping, logs and reporting
Basic understanding of environmental compliance/universal waste
Work from prints, drawings, schematics, sketches, repair manuals, verbal and written instructions.

Educational and/or Experience Requirements:

HS Diploma.  Trade School preferred
3+ years prior experience in facility-related mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
