Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Journeyman Electrician supports processes that include, but are not limited to:
Regular attendance at assigned location; may include A.J. Roberto Mechanical office or other project site. Follows blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and control panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools. Tests installation of wiring to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter and volt meter Avoids unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Maintains strict adherence to safety rules and quality. Participates in site housekeeping; Communicates with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Competencies: Five+ years electrical experience. Knowledge in building automation architecture layouts and wiring preferred. Knowledge of national electrical code and the ability to research and retrieve information from the code book. OSHA 10 certificate. Ability to read, understand, analyze blueprints and schematic control drawings preferred. Ability to complete work in a neat, safe, and professional manner. Knowledgeable ability in pipe bending, circuit wiring, services, wire pulling, underground, wiring electrical equipment and low voltage controls. Willingness to learn and program building automation systems.
Troubleshooting skills: Ability to plan and project weekly material and labor requirements. Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at once. High School Degree/GED required.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small crawl spaces. Ability to work as a dedicated team member, while also working independently and in a timely manner. Ability to promote the company’s value-added services like service agreements, comfort enhancements and high efficiency equipment upgrades. Candidate needs to have a complete set of his/her own hand and cordless tools. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Availability to work nights and weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers. Availability for occasional overnight travel. Familiarity with operating an iPad and cloud-based scheduling and work order systems preferred.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; talk or hear; perform fine motor, arm, hand and finger skills in the use of tools, equipment, or writing. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
