Domestic Development Engineer

As a Domestic Development Engineer, you will provide support to the Domestic Development Engineering Team resolving issues, coordinating with stakeholders, and assuring on-time delivery of projects. You will analyze, engineer, and implement new technologies and effective cost reductions into New Balance domestic manufacturing with the goal of making domestic manufacturing world class. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Product Development, and Operations to assure that new processes are commercialized smoothly, optimized, and meet cost targets.


Continually Improve Technologies to Eliminate Manufacturing Inefficiencies

Work cross-functionally across all engineering networks to provide status updates of current projects as well as identify opportunities for new engineering projects
Analyze domestic manufacturing tools, methodologies, and processes for opportunities to:  Utilize new technologies to reduce cost
Recommend process changes to improve the overall product quality as well as production efficiency

Technical Aspects of Product Development

Provide problem solving and engineering solutions on the manufacturing quality control processes, types of manufacturing, list of processes to be followed, and tooling requirements
Troubleshoot machines in the areas of robotics, automation, machine vision and PLC diagnostics
Works from drawings, sketches, parts or instructions to set-up machines then operates standard and specialized machine tools and accessory control devices and fixtures to make a variety of parts to required tolerances. 

Commercialization of Equipment from Innovation Team

Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability of new technologies
Throughout project implementation process, ensure proper completion of manufacturing staff training, provide proper documentation, and troubleshoot issues as they arise until the process is running smoothly


Requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent, and a working knowledge of 3D CAD
Strong knowledge in PLC programming and related program languages is a must 
3-5 years of experience in a high volume manufacturing environment 
Demonstrated research and investigative skills 
Electromechanical aptitude a plus
