The Town of Watertown seeks an individual for the Property and Buildings Division of the Department of Public Works. Under the general direction of the Superintendent of Public Works, the position is responsible for installation, maintenance and repair work related to the Town's fire alarm, electrical and communications systems and manages other operating and safety procedures.
The Chief Electrician coordinates and oversees the work of outside contractors, determines priorities and schedules work assignments. This position also is responsible during storm emergencies, for providing safe areas for downed high voltage wires and clearing downed cable television and telephone wires. Coordinating with the Fire Department, the Police Department and other town departments and contractors, the Chief Electrician will also be responsible for development of safety programs and assistance with emergency management.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school or vocational school diploma, or GED; advanced technical training. Five years of experience as a licensed electrician; experience working with power distribution systems and fire alarm systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements: Valid Massachusetts Electrician License. Valid Massachusetts 1B Hoisting License required within 6 months. Valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver's License with Airbrake endorsement required within 1 year. Good driving record.
Position is subject to CORI background check and U.S. Department of Transportation controlled substance screening procedures.
Salary Range: $1,275.71 - $1,569.01 per week, plus excellent benefits
