Performs varied carpentry duties to meet needs to complete construction/
renovation projects consistent with trade standards
- Installs metal stud wall framing, gypsum board and veneer coat plaster, and
suspended ceiling systems using hand and power tools, including screw guns;
fabricates and/or installs wood and laminated casework, wood and hollow
metal doors, frames, and associated hardware. Performs minor concrete form
installations; jig set-ups for production fabrications of similar items,
and minor scale masonry installations. Estimates time and materials required
for the initiation and completion of maintenance activities and understands
sequences of these activities as related to working with and involvement of
-Prepares materials for installation, replacement, or repair by measuring and
marking prescribed dimensions on materials and cutting to size. Prepares work
area by disassembling old structure.
- Reads architectural plans to determine procedure of constructing cabinets,
partitions, and other articles. Estimates material requirements and costs,
and orders from designated personnel. Assembles pieces.
- Installs and repairs structures, partitions, doors, window frames, and
furniture. Installs ceilings and floor coverings; removes and replaces
window and door glass, ceiling tiles, and broken hardware on wooden units
*Trade or vocational school graduate with courses in plan reading,
mathematics, carpentry, and woodworking; six years related experience
