The Department of Facilities Management seeks a Third Class Power Plant Engineer. The Power Plant Engineer will operate, maintain, and repair high-pressure steam-plant to insure safe, reliable, and efficient operation including periodic checks of all operating equipment, maintaining plant and state operators logs, performing chemical tests on boiler, preparing boilers for annual internal inspections, and operating and maintaining, and repairing steam turbo-generator and underground steam and condensate piping systems.
Knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 146 and 522 Code of Mass. Regulations.
Willingness to work any shift.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor and climb vertical ladders.
Ability to keep a written log.
Must be mechanically inclined.
Working knowledge of heating, ventilating and cooling systems.
Work unsupervised and react to emergency situations to maintain the safety of the plant.
Possess a Massachusetts Third Class Engineer or higher grade license.
This is a full-time benefited position within the AFSCME Bargaining Unit. Bi-weekly salary is $2,083.24.
