Master Plumbing Prep

Objective:  This course is designed to provide students with the necessary time and informational fundamentals for entrance to the State Master Plumbers Examination.

Description:  Promulgated by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 142.  The criteria have been established through the State Board of Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters.  Following these guidelines, students must hold a Journeyman Plumbers License for one full year before acceptance to this program.

·        Proper methods of Venting Gas Appliances

·        Proper Combustion and Make-up Air Design for Gas Appliances

·        Designs and Installation of Special Waste Systems

·        Protection of the Potable Water Supply through Cross Connection Control

·        Approved materials for use in Residential, Commercial and Industrial Installations

·        Advanced Science and Theory of Plumbing and Gas Fitting

·        Water and it’s Properties

·        Air and it’s Properties

·        Pressure, Vacuum, Weights

·        Sanitary and Environmental Health Hazards

·        Sewage and Waste Disposal

·        Types and Properties of Gas

·        Traps, Seal and Vents

·        Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals

·        Melting Points of Various Metals

·        Basic Arithmetic, Geometry and Square Roots

·        Pipe Equations, Pressures, Friction and Capacities

·        Pipe Areas and Volumes

·        Rules relevant to Circles

·        Temperature Conversions and Thermal Expansion

·        BTU Calculations

·        Weights, Loads, Distances, Percentages, Grades

·        Sizing of DWV Systems, Water Supply Systems and Gas Systems

·        Proper use of Sizing Tables

·        Calculations of Direct and Indirect Job Costs

·        Basic Business Accounting Practices

·        Blueprint Reading and Design

·        Take-Offs, Estimating, Grades and use of Instruments

·        Interfacing of Code Standard with Drawings
