2A/1C Hoisting License

Objective: This is a combined 2A/1C Hoisting License class to prepare candidates for the Massachusetts Class 2A/1C license exam.

DescriptionHoisting licenses are required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety in order to operate various types of heavy duty equipment in the construction and landscaping industry.

The Class 2A Hoisting License allows the candidate to operate front end loaders, backhoes and excavators. This is the most inclusive license.  It covers equipment in the 2A, 2B, & 2C categories.

The Class 1C Hoisting License allows the candidate to operate a hydraulic boom with no cable, forklifts and lulls.

Prerequisites: The Department of Public Safety (D.P.S.) requires the following to be sent to them:

(NOTE:  Do NOT  send this information to The Peterson School, send directly to the D.P.S.)

  1. The application for the license exam
  2. Copy of a D.O.T. or Physical Card
  3. Passport size photo (for their license)
  4. A check for $75.00 made out to the D.P.S.

(If you do not have a D.O.T. or Health Card, we will provide physical forms that you can bring to your doctor).
