  Gas Heat

Trouble Shooting Training Program

Objective:  This is a gas heat trouble shooting course that works from the shut-off to the appliance. When the course is completed the students will be able to trouble shoot and fix from within.  Students will not be able to install or replace gas furnaces but they will receive a certificate to repair residential gas heat problems.

Description:   Lecture and practical hands-on training in our State-of-the Art lab.  Upon completion, the student will be able to demonstrate their ability to read wiring diagrams, solve heating problems, replace defective parts, and make adjustments on high-efficiency heating equipment.  Students will use information from the “Massachusetts State Gas Code Book” to safely service gas equipment.

·        Liability & business related discussion of gas heat

·        Gas leak investigation:  Methods & Safety

·        Gas piping:  Sizing gas systems, meters & inputs

·        Gas combustion & burner adjustments

·        Venting & ventilation of gas heating equipment

·        Basic electricity

·        Electricity & gas heat control systems

·        Hot water & warm air heating systems

·        Domestic hot water heating

·        Spark & hot surface ignition
