First Fireman/Third Engineer

Objective:  To prepare Boiler Operators for their license exam in fifteen weeks.

Description:  This course is provided for those who wish to advance in the field of Steam Engineering by gaining a thorough knowledge of Scientific Boiler Firing and Efficient Boiler Operation when various fuels are used.  The course contains all the Steam Boiler instruction that the Fireman in any steam plant needs to know.

·        Heat Transfer

·        Thermodynamics

·        Combustion

·        Pumps

·        Heating Systems

·        Water Treatment

·        Turbines

·        Condensers

Prerequisites:

To be eligible for the examination for a First Class Fireman License, a person must furnish evidence as to his previous training and experience.  They must have been employed in a boiler or steam power plant as a Steam Engineer, Fireman, Control Room Operator, Watertender, Auxiliary Operator or Engineers Assistant for not less than one year, or he must have held and used a Second Class Fireman license for not less than six months.
